Sharm El Sheikh is a 5 hour flight from the UK. It is world renowned for all year round sunshine and it doesn’t disappoint.

The beautiful seaside promenade through all the major hotels is glorious. It is a far more relaxed atmosphere than the main Sharm Road (in front of all of the hotels) where you can expect to be pressured into visiting various local outlets.

Alex went to meet the Sharm Grand Plaza Resort General Manager to find out about this hotels 5* success;

Within a 5 minute cab ride of the Sharm Grand Plaza, or a 40 minute walk along the promenade you will find a Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC and TGI Friday’s.

I have been visiting Sharm for over 10 years and most hotels are of a very good standard. The 5* Sharm Grand Plaza is the best that I have experienced for an All Inclusive. It has exceptional pools, gardens, service and rooms.

Most of the hotels in Sharm are All Inclusive. The food in the buffet at this hotel (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) is hot, fresh,varied and enjoyable. There are also several a la carte restaurants at this resort. There is an extra charge to dine a la carte but I can guarantee it is well worth the investment and adds hugely to the overall Sharm Grand Plaza experience.

Cleanliness at the Sharm Grand Plaza is impeccable and the high standards of the hotel are impressive throughout.

The service here is exceptional too, from helping you with the sunbeds in the morning to serving drinks throughout the day….nothing is too much trouble. I cannot compliment the staff enough.

The Grounds

The gardens and grounds are the most beautiful and well kept that I have seen anywhere in Sharm El Sheikh. As you can see below the staff take immense pride in the appearance of the entire property;

The Rooms

The Sharm Grand Plaza is a relatively new property and therefore the rooms are of a very high standard.

It should be noted that 5* in Egypt is not 5* in the UK or US, however, these rooms are of a 4*+ standard.

The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and linen as required. The rooms have a TV with stations for every possible nationality. Brits will enjoy BBC World for the latest news.

Most rooms appear to have a fabuluos balcony to enjoy the tremendous grounds and in most cases a sea view. If you are lucky enough to get a sea view you will not be disappointed!

The rooms also have a fridge and hairdryer. Irons and kettles are not allowed in the rooms.

Pools

There are several pools throughout the resort, each one being more spectacular than the next.They pools are beautifully clean and the sunbeds are of a great standard, they’re definitely made for comfort!

You can relax in the sunshine or under one of the many umbrellas around the resort and on the beach.

Spa

I also enjoyed three full body massages at the Spa during my week at the Sharm Grand Plaza. A 50 minute full body massage is a third of the price of the UK and is as good (if not better) than what you would expect from a therapist in a top London Hotel.

Red Sea

The Sharm Grand Plaza is located on the shoreline of the Red Sea. These impeccably blue waters are the perfect backdrop to a relaxing sun holiday.

There is a private jetty for residents only to enjoy the glorious views of the sea life, waters and coral. You can even take a dip and dive off the end of the jetty to swim with some of the most colourful and unusual underwater creatures.

Buffet

The communal buffet is open from 7am for Breakfast, 1pm for lunch and 7pm for dinner.

There is something for all tastes including salad, pasta, chicken and varying main courses.

The food is hot which is so rare in these resorts. Bravo to Chef for making mass dining so enjoyable.

Al la Carte Restaurants;

Falafel Oriental Restaurant

To be able to leave the buffet and enjoy personal service and great food can be a real treat. Falofel doesn’t disappoint! Falafel is based just above the beach in a stand alone restaurant.

I enjoyed a Mezze starter, soup and an Egyptian mixed grill;

Star Fish Seafood Restaurant

For me this was the jewel in the culinary crown of the Sharm Grand Plaza.

What can be better than lobster bisque, fresh fish and fab wine. Just delicious.

The service is exceptional!

All in all, the food and beverage at Sharm Grand Plaza is excellent compared to other Sharm resorts I have visited.

Enjoy a beautifully clean, helpful, welcoming hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.

The Sharm Grand Plaza well deserves its 5* rating in the biggest Red Sea resort.
