Grand Hotel Brighton GB1 Restaurant Review

Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Grand Hotel Brighton GB1 Restaurant Review……

GB1 is the new dining concept at the Grand Hotel Brighton.

This impressive space within this beautiful historic building has now been transformed into a modern seafood restaurant with an impressive circular shellfish bar displaying a wonderfully wide range of local fish.

You have the option to sit at the bar or in the fine dining restaurant. You may find a table available overlooking the impressive vista of Brighton beach itself.

The service, as you would expect, is warm, friendly and efficient.

I cannot recommend highly enough the fresh fish options on the menu, offering as wide a variety as in any top shellfish restaurant located by the sea.

Although not advertised as such, I found the wide selection of starters could make a fabulous tapas style menu in itself. The array of fish, meat and vegetarian options were for me, the most impressive on the menu – other than the ‘Fruits de mer’ which are obviously exceptional, beautifully presented, fresh, local and great value for money.

I chose a range of starters that were truly delicious.

I highly recommend the cured salmon with potato and pear salad – totally moreish.

Next I sampled the ducks egg with belly pork and eggy bread, a most attractive dish which tasted as good as it looked. You cannot go wrong with the whitebait which was accompanied by a terrific garlic mayonnaise…..

Another well presented dish was the game terrine accompanied by beetroot, hazelnuts and pineapple jelly.

A stand out dish for me, and absolute highlight was the locally caught crab meat which was so tasty it almost ate itself! Don’t miss this starter.

Finally, the scallops served with in this case the Grand’s exceptional quails egg and local black pudding were delicious.

For the main course I have to recommend the Fruits de mer – but take note that this restaurant also caters for carnivors as well as vegetarians.

There’s an impressive range of grills including the remarkably juicy Ribeye with chunky chips featured below.

If you would like to try the Chefs ‘special’, and would like a talking point around the table, I suggest the ‘Lobster Burger’. Served with fries and delicious coleslaw this comes with a huge crown of lobster claw as you can see. The burger itself is made of various fish including lobster, pollack & crab with pancetta.

Another highlight of the meal was the delicious desserts.

Chocoholics will adore the chocolate fondant with banana & peanut butter ice cream topped with pecan nuts. Those with a sweet tooth will adore the fabulously presented poached fruits sabboyon served with red wine sorbet.

Finally, The Grand Hotel GB1 restaurant thrives on its fresh fish. This far exceeds what you would expect from the average hotel restaurant and is therefore the perfect venue for a fish lovers night out in Brighton.
