William Merritt is a former New Zealand Police Detective who has worked internationally in Commerce and Insurance.
He has been based in London for the past 15 years.
William’s areas of expertise lies in locating and interviewing witnesses in criminal and civil legal proceedings, detecting losses (shrinkage/internal theft) within Companies and handling insurance claims disputes.
Most recently William has been heavily involved in the DLT & Rolf Harris Operation Yewtree trials.
He successfully cleared DLT of 14 cases and was behind the team that cleared Rolf Harris of 8 charges in May 2017.

William was behind the defence which cleared Rolf Harris of all 8 cases in his May 2017 trial. Harris was subsequently released from jail.
He became involved with Rolf his 2014 trial. Harris was jailed on twelve counts of indecent assault that took place between 1968 and 1986, on four female victims then aged between eight and nineteen.

As a result, he was stripped of many of the honours he had been awarded during his career, including the AO and CBE He was released from HMP Stafford in May 2017.
Merritt most famously investigated and formed the defence for Dave Lee Travis which cleared DLT of 14 of his 15 accusations in 2014.
