Valencia, Spain Review

Here at Celebrity Radio, we LOVE Valencia in Spain. It’s a modern City with incredible history, culture and architecture….and better still, it’s on the Mediterranean Sea!

Valencia offers the beaches of Benidorm & the sun of Ibiza without any Union Jack shorts anywhere to be seen. This is not a ‘touristy’ destination.

The beaches at Valencia are some of the most glorious in Europe….

This City offers the entertainment & dining quality of the greatest cities in the world, just 2 hours from the UK.  Valencia give a truly Spanish experience.

You really do get the best of both worlds – a thriving City with incredible bars and restaurants plus 25 degrees in the summer to relax on the beach and have fun.

Valencia is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, with just under 1 million people living in the City….which has ‘global city status’.

The Port of Valencia is the 5th busiest container port in Europe and the largest on the Mediterranean Sea.

Valencia was founded as a Roman colony in 138 BC. The city is situated on the banks of the Turia, on the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula, fronting the Gulf of Valencia on the Mediterranean Sea.

This incredible history makes Valencia one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations.

Major monuments include Valencia Cathedral, the Torres de Serranos, the Torres de Quart, the Llotja de la Seda (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996), and the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences), an entertainment-based cultural and architectural complex designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela.

The Museu de Belles Arts de València houses a large collection of paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries, including works by Velázquez, El Greco, and Goya, as well as an important series of engravings by Piranesi.

As well as history, sun, amazing beaches and cultures – Valencia also offers some of the best cuisine in the world.

Valencia is famous for its gastronomic culture. Typical dishes include paella, a simmered rice dish with seafood or meat (chicken or rabbit), fartons, buñuelos, the Spanish omelette, rosquilletas and squid.

The City boasts 5 Michelin Starred restaurants. No.1 is El Poblet…

Valencia was best known between 2008–2012 the European Formula One Grand Prix.

Valencia was one of the few Cities along with Barcelona, Porto and Monte Carlo as the only European cities ever to host Formula One World Championship Grands Prix on public roads in the middle of cities.

The final race in 2012 European Grand Prix saw an extremely popular winner, since home driver Fernando Alonso won for Ferrari in spite of starting halfway down the field.

Valencia also offers great attractions like the Bioparc.

Bioparc Valencia is a 10-hectare zoo in Valencia, Spain. It is owned by the City Council of Valencia and designed and managed by Rainforest. It has a large collection of African fauna.

One of the great things about Valencia is that the airport is just on the outskirts of the City so you’ll be there within minutes and it will only cost you 5-10 Euros.

Valencia offers some great bargains on hotels and there are daily flights from London with airlines including Ryanair and British Airways.

I cannot speak highly enough of this amazing City. It has everything any other Spanish resort offers without the trash and ‘Full English Breakfasts’ on every corner.

It’s offers a truly Spanish experience which I just know you are going to love!
