Enjoy Celebrity Radio: The Play That Goes Wrong Review Duchess Theatre….
‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is brought to you form the creators of ‘Fawlty Towers’ and ‘Noises Off’. These boys are masters of word play, shtick, nonsense, fun, farce & clever staging.
It’s a raucous comedy romp with a litany of belly laugh inducing titters throughout. There’s never a dull moment!
This play (within a play) features the most dreadful, badly produced, appallingly written West End calamity since ‘X-Factor The Musical’!
The-gags are delicious, perfectly timed and often quite cutting. From the scenery to lights, props, sound and even the actors – it’s a theatrical disaster!
TPTHW is basically a laughable farce of epic proportions. It moves along at 100 MPH and is one of the most enjoyable 2 hours of fun I’ve had in a theatre in a long time.
As you would hope / expect – there’s plenty of door slamming, set disasters, line bloopers and theatre in jokes.
Enjoy an Exclusive interview with writer & Star Henry Lewis:
The show opens with an explanation that this is a murder mystery. Sadly the only mystery by the end of this play is how the show got approved by health and safety.
It’s inspiring to see the cast work this magnificently clever and inventive set.
Most impressive is the speed in which the shtick is conducted. Breath-taking at times!
You have to pay attention though – this script moves fast, v fast – it’s not a show for the hard of thinking or easily pleased.
It doesn’t have flying witches or giraffes but it is an incredibly clever, witty and beautifully crafted script.
An easy 4* star review for ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’.
