Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Rub Smokehouse & Bar Nottingham Review 2015….
Rub is a upbeat, hearty BBQ restaurant with it routes firmly in the South of the USA.
New to Nottingham, located 2 minutes from Old Market Square, this youthful eatery screams fun, great food and value for money.
This restaurant has a great buzz and when I visited was completely full.
The food offers some great surprises and it was all perfectly cooked.
Rub knows what it is and does it brilliantly.
This isn’t trying to be ‘fine dining’ – it’s loud, proud, cheeky and packed with personality.
You’ll leave well fed feeling like you’ve had a new, exciting and different dining experience.

I wanted to try everything!
Yes, it is possible via the #HUNGDRAWNANDQUARTERED platters.
There’s all of Rub’s greats for your table to enjoy! There’s fries, coleslaw & all of the meat options….
I sampled the platter (pic 2) for two people, you could easily feed 4 on a good day! Thankfully Rub do offer doggy bags!
I loved the spicy but tender ribs and the Corndogs were incredibly moreish…
Rub take their meat very seriously and use a butchers called Sykes House Farm ‘The Chef’s Butcher’ near Wetherby North Yorkshire.
Their passion for meat cuts is evident and their farming ethics are second to none.
They have years of expertise in butchery of American style cuts of meat.
All of the meat is cooked in their smokers ‘Hank & Marvin’ overnight, marinated first with the secret ‘Rub’ blend of spices.
The Brisket & Pork Shoulder is cooked low n slow for around 16 hours.
The food continues with pulled pork – a personal favourite with a delicious tangy BBQ sauce.
The sweet potato fries were divine. Why anyone bothers with regular fies anymore is beyond me?!
The Coleslaw is brilliantly refreshing and beautifully presented…..
Rub opens from Midday until late. There is a nearby car park or the tram stops outside.
At 6pm the restaurant was busy! By 7pm it was packed and the bar was full.
There’s a great soundtrack to your meal at Rub – this makes for a fun pre/post dinner beverage in the bar!
Pic 2 – Don’t miss the pulled pork – fabulous!
Finally you CANNOT miss dessert.
Every American Smokehouse themed restaurant should have top finale’s to the meal – Rub don’t disappoint.
The Belgian Waffle was a refreshing delight & the Toffee Crunch Dime was a brilliant new twist on cheese cake.
For me, The Black FOREST Sundae was a sensation. Best dessert in a long time!
Amazing value too at only £5.25.
I loved eating at Rub and can’t wait to return.
This eatery doesn’t have pretentious and knows what it does best.
