With shows throughout the day, Miami Seaquarium prides itself on its education programme.
It has to be acknowledged that such sea parks are hugely controversial and detested by animal rights activists.
I felt the animals were, especially the dolphins and Ocra Killer Whales, clearly adored by their handlers. I appreciate that is not however a defence for their captivity.
I have to admit the manetes were in a tiny pool and I did not enjoy seeing them in such cramped and unstimulating conditions.
There is no question that their ‘shows’ brought much joy to the public who watched.
Here’s the Dolphins & Killer Whale performing at Miami Seaquarium…
If you feel like getting up close and personal with the dolphins, you can even book a VIP trip and swim with these beautiful creatures.
You can also have a 2.5 hour VIP tour at a premium cost around the entire property.
The Seal Swim is more unique offering a 15-20 minute interaction. You’ll swim freely alongside the seals and then be introduced to your special seal ‘friend’ for hugs & kisses.
As you enter the park you’re given a schedule of shows throughout the day at the various attractions – make a plan so that you don’t miss out.
I think half a day would be enough to see most things although you could easily spend a whole day in the park.
There’s new attractions opening in 2016 including a new penguin attraction.
There are endless refreshment stalls, cafe’s and restaurants so you won’t go hungry or thirsty.
Open daily 10am-6pm
