Mamma Mia is not trying to be Shakespeare, but, it does have meaning celebrating the love and bond between friends and a mother and daughter.
Tonight’s performance driven by the remarkable Mazz Murray as Donna was utterly believable. She’s hysterical, stunning & a remarkable actress & singer.
ABBA’s storybook musical gives the punters what they want. Nob gags, cheap laughs, lads in skin-tight lycra – building to the best party medley in history.

On the 6th April 2019, Mamma Mia celebrated 20 years in the West End. A remarkable achievement.
Earlier this month the show once again evolved with a stunning new and vibrant cast. There’s no doubting that this company is special. There are some truly remarkable moments.
The lighting & staging is seamless. The precision of the ensemble numbers are flawless.
Here’s Benny & Bjorn earlier this year at the 20th Anniversary celebrations…
Nods to Kirsty Hoiles & Ricky Butt who are perfect & hysterical best friends to Donna & the magnificent drive of the narrative & show. They make their roles look easy. The Dynamos collective warmth is joyous.
Kirsty has a terrific voice & energy. Confident, fabulous with the perfect percentage of sass. Ricky is instantly lovable and always a joy to watch.
Here’s our HD 5* review via YouTube:
Lucy May Barker & Cameron Burt are a delicious Sophie & Sky who work perfectly together to deliver a believable and charming love story.
Barker opens and closes the show with a rare heart and credibility. She sets the mood for this dream of a feel-good musical. Kudos to Burt, he has one of the strongest voices I’ve heard anywhere in the world in this role. Perfect casting.
Truly, there isn’t a weak link in this company. A joy to watch. Their precision and energy was flawless.
Theatrically the star of the show is the incomparable Mazz Murray who never fails to amaze. Having recently starred as Tanya, it was obvious that role didn’t give licence to shine vocally.
Aside from being one of the most naturally hysterical & brilliant women I’ve ever met, Mazz obviously has a killer voice, but, this role is not looking to instantly wow and raise the roof. Donna requires vulnerability which Mazz plays perfectly…
As a rock belter she’s sensational and frankly in a league of her own, however, Winner, One Of Us & Slipping through my fingers demands tenderness and beauty. Her magical energy, pathos and pure heart is inspired. She’s pitch perfect and creates one of the most stunning sounds I’ve heard in a theatre.
This is a career defining role for Ms. Mazz.
Enjoy my EXCLUSIVE 70 minute interviews with ABBA’s Benny & Bjorn recorded at their homes in Stockholm…
The reason for this shows success is Judy Craymers crafting of the story. It’s timeless. This female friendly show will never get old as its audience will always want the memories of how this show makes them feel – nostalgic and joyous. That’s powerful.
Mazz Murray’s delivery of ‘Slipping through my fingers’ was devastatingly astounding. What emotion. What talent. She’s an effortless star that is without question world class.
Mamma Mia will never get old. It’s theatrical gold designed for the people driven by a stunning high energy cast, quite brilliant story telling and a heart the size of ABBA’s prolific back catalogue.
