5* REVIEW & Interviews Goldilocks Newcastle

REVIEW Goldilocks and the Three Bears Theatre Royal Newcastle…

Well, this review is very easy. Entertainment doesn’t get any better than this!

GOLDILOCKS @ TRN is a unique, exciting and at times a breath-taking masterclass in celebrating unique talent, variety, camp naughtiness and spectacle!

Michael Harrison & QDOS deliver a stroke of genius staging this circus based ‘talent’ show to finish a year when ‘The Greatest Showman’ captivated the world. It is therefore unsurprising that this show – dripping in glamour & oozing energy – is a great big whopping hit!

This show celebrates remarkable spec acts and showcases the sensational energy and star power of Danny Adams who steals and drives the entire show – for the 14th consecutive year.

Add in the magic of his Dad, Clive Webb, and Dame Rita – played by the quite brilliant Chris Hayward – you’ve got two hours of glorious, heart warming and inspring theatre.

What’s wonderful about this new (and rare) production of GOLDILOCKS is the effort and craft that has gone into each and every scene.

It’s unsurprising that Newcastle Theatre Royal is now the longest running panto in the UK and sells out quicker than anyone else. This success is purely built on trust. The 2018 / 2019 production does not disappoint as it re-invents the art form.

Here’s our 5* review via YouTube. Watch and listen here:

It’s not just the circus acts and three headliners who shine. Steve Arnott is flawless delivering the most panto-esk role as Vinklebottom, Wayne Smith is a stand out actor oozing warmth & Laura Evans is a delicious Goldilocks with a terrific voice.

Nods obviously go to Hayward’s self-designed magnificent costumes. There’s no way these could have any knockers! The finale costumes are equally as decadent and beautiful.

The most remarkable, unique, exciting, dangerous and slightly terrifying act to EVER take to a British stage is the BERSERK RIDERS. What an opening to Act 2.

These four stunt riders defy gravity (and common sense) to perform one of the most captivating acts in circus history.

This health and safety nightmare has to be seen to be believed. If you think panto is for kids – this proves how times have changed and this art form can be relevant for all ages in 2018.

There’s no doubting this is THE most variety packed panto in history.

Congrats to all of the spec acts including the INSANE Skating Medini & the terrifically gifted Alfio.

The sound was perfect by Olly Steel creating an immersive atmosphere throughout and there’s a terrific 5 piece band led by Richard Atkinson who are the backbone of the production.

Little will outshine the stellar cast of Webb, Adams & Haywood, but, this year at the Theatre Royal Newcastle – they’ve been given every trick in the book to make this the GREATEST PANTO in the theatre’s history.
