Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Review G4 Christmas CD 2015 Live Cathedral Candlelight Tour…
I first met G4 10 years ago and was in awe of their synergy, talent and vocal prowess.
The boys are back Live in 2015 after a 7 year break and are without question more vocally proud and connected than ever before with their addition Nick Ashby on bass.
G4 are a class act with killer vocals and a compelling Live act perfectly pitched at their adoring audience.
In November 2015 they released their first G4 Christmas Album and take this ‘Candlelight’ tour on the road visiting Lincoln, Birmingham, London, Edinburgh & Brighton.

Enjoy G4 & Alex Belfield Exclusive Christmas interview recorded November 2015:
I caught the boys at Derby Cathedral where they offered a 5* masterclass in delivery, tone and performance. This was the perfect venue for their hugely gifted and undeniably angelic voices.
There tone and vocal connection has never been more impressive, compelling or immersive.
G4 are not fakers – Jonathan, Mike, Ben & Nick currently harmonise like no-one else in British history. G4 was perfectly supported by the Rock Choir.
‘Bring Him Home’ completed the show with Ben’s moving story. A beautiful finale, magnificent rendition and the perfect end to this 5* Christmas tour.
Here’s a flavour of the Live show with ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’….
After a life of Live performance and training, their harmonies offer a master-class in delivery and vocal texture and control.
With remarkable lead tenor vocals by Jonathan Ansell, showcased superbly in ‘All I Want for Christmas’ & ‘Panis Angelicus’ he & the boys have never sounded better.
The boys reformed earlier this year to celebrate their 10 year anniversary and the fans wanted more. Their Autumn tour was a sell out success and received rave reviews.
This is CD is not trying to be irreverent or re-invent the genre – it offers beautiful and loved Christmas classics sung as well as they can possibly be performed.
Here’s Alex & the boys at Derby Cathedral:
Featuring traditional carols including ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ to modern classics like ‘Oh Holy Night’ & ‘All I want for Christmas’ – this album & tour is the epitome of Christmas.
With nods to the Live tour including ‘Bring Him Home’, this 11 track CD was only made due to the dedication of their adoring fans.
With the charming church organ used in tracks like ‘Good King Wenceslas’, this will no doubt be the soundtrack of Christmas morning for 1000’s.
Enjoy an Exclusive hysterical interview with G4 & Belfield from the Summer….
The CD opens with arguably the greatest festive tune for a classical group – ‘O Holy Night’- naturally they deliver it perfectly despite the massively intricate & complicated orchestration.
After the Christmas Medley there’s the glorious ‘Panis Angelicus’ – a perfect reminder of how technically brilliant these boys are.
Next, I love that they surprise, as they did in the Live tour, with a pop track by Mariah Carey. Jonathan (as always) nailed it and this should be released as a single. A reinvention of a wonderful song.
Probably my favourite track on the album is ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’. I’ve never heard it recorded or sung better or beautifully. it is literally Christmas summed up in 5.17 seconds. Fabulous.
Here’s Alex with the boys:
With spiritual tones throughout, ‘Amazing Grace’ couldn’t be more appropriate this November.
G4 do not need a philharmonic orchestra, like with ‘Once In Royal’ their vocals are utterly charming a cappella.
‘G4 CHRISTMAS’ is a 4* smash hit and 5* Live delight for anyone seeking 45 minutes of none-stop Christmas indulgence.
Bravo boys, this deserves to be a chart topper.
Review and interview by Alex Belfield for Celebrity Radio 24th November 2015.
I couldn’t agree more. G4 have pulled out all the stops for this beautifully accomplished cd. Their expertise and superb vocals shine out with all the professionalism you would expect from a classically trained quartet . Classic Christmas carols and songs superbly performed in a traditional church providing wonderful acoustics. I’m over the moon for G4 and hope they get the success they so deserve.
Echoing what has been said
What a wow album
What a lovely surprise to hear Jonathan sing 2nd verse of Away in the manager age 9 years.
It is spine chilling album
I wish I was a wordsmith, then I can give more detailed review on how each track effects me but I am not so I end by saying each track has the wowee factor
Amazing arrangements vocals better and better Jonathan always outstanding but so are Ben Nick and Mike it is lovely to hear each delivering solo parts
Totally agree with everything said. Went to Norwich and was blown away by the acoustics. Every song was breath taking……..all their voices so matched. Rock Choir was fab too- it’s been a pleasure for so many of us to have accompanied them on tour this year. The boy soprano was awesome.
