Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Review Doubletree by Hilton London Westminster….
We’ve been lucky to stay in some of the best hotels in the world. Many of them have been Hilton Hotels.
The Doubletree by Hilton Westminster is sadly one of the most average we’ve stayed in….especially for the price.
We visited in mid-July for just over £200 per night – a significant amount of money, even by London standards.
My biggest issue was the size of HHonors Room. I stayed in 931 which was distinctly average.
The bathroom was tiny and the ‘Executive Lounge’ was the least glamorous I’ve encountered.
Most spectacularly of all – there’s no TV, just a tiny Apple computer – speechless!
Here’s an Exclusive HD Video via YouTube:
Located next to Parliament, this hotel is just a 20 minute walk from Leicester Square and arguably a perfect location for travellers.
Let me be clear – obviously with Hilton, the rooms are spotlessly clean, have everything you need – but it is all relative.
You get tea / coffee, an iron & ironing board & complimentary water in the room.
However, I have NEVER heard of a hotel room not having a TV! How do you watch a 12 inch computer screen from your bed?
The remote was clumsy too…because it’s not a TV!
There is however free wifi throughout the property.
The Executive Lounge is the most claustrophobic un-glamourous lounge I’ve seen.
Even the food is average (Meatballs & Pizza) & snacks – all mainly carbs – no salad etc which I thought was standard.
Also, from 5.30 you get complimentary drinks with Hilton Exec Lounge. There’s wine and beer at Doubletree Westminster but no spirits, again – unheard of in my experience.
I will say, the breakfast in the restaurant was quite lovely.
I called into the Exec Lounge but for some reason it was just unappetising.
The restaurant is far better value, has a superior variety of food and overall dining experience. 4* for the breakfast.
For the above reasons I won’t be returning to this property.
This ‘4* hotel’ gets just 3+*’s right now for value and overall experience. Great shame and disappointing.
You do however get a free cookie on check-in….which is wonderful if you’re 6. That’s another first.
Some you win – some you lose!
