Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Review Delifonseca Liverpool….
Delifonseca is a wonderful deli with an elegant restaurant in the Baltic Triangle of Liverpool just moments from The Arena & City centre.
Serving breakfast from 8am, lunch and dinner until 9pm – you can enjoy everything from a high end sandwich to a three course meal.
Delifonseca offer warm and friendly service as well as hearty, rustic and generous meals.
You’ll enjoy free parking directly outside and responsibly sourced local meats used throughout the menu.
Many items made by Chef, as well as meats, can be bought in the deli.
Enjoy an Exclusive audio / visual interview with Chef Martin and Alex Belfield:
The restaurant offers a relaxed but well-designed room with a menu ranging from sandwiches to full meals, rustically created.
The Deli at Delifonseca is fabulous. Packed with ‘farm shop’ gems, hand picked gifts and an array of wines, sauces, jams and much more.
There’s also a new butcher’s counter, with local meats from Edge Butchers on the Wirral, cut to order.
If you don’t have time to visit the restaurant, why not take away a soup or a freshly made sandwich from the Deli counter with various cold meats and salads also on offer.
So, the food in Delifonseca restaurant…..
To begin we sampled the ‘Deli Dip Platter’ which was a vegetarian’s delight.
This could easily be a meal in itself. Almost everything was made in house including the hummus, spiced aubergine pate, tahini dip & 3 bean salad. The dips come with crostini, olives and feta.
I highly recommend you sample the ‘Jamon Serrano’ which is one of my favourite things in the world. This melts in your mouth, as it should. Delicious!
Don’t miss the salads!
The Thai beef salad not only looked delicious but was brilliantly healthy, packed with French beans, onion, peppers, leaves and cashew nuts. There’s a light sesame and lime dressing – this is really lovely salad.
Also, I was amazed to see a ‘Po’ Boy’ sandwich on the lunch menu.
I haven’t seen this anywhere outside of New Orleans. By definition this is a hearty sandwich, utterly moreish and packed with roasted beef and its juices. Delifonseca offer more of a delicious roast beef baguette than a traditional Po’ Boy, but, it’s a lovely nod to the traditions of Nola.
All sandwiches come with the ‘world famous’ Delifonseca chunky chips, twice-cooked, which are excellent!
As above, don’t miss the daily specials board. A wonderful feature of Delifonseca.
We sampled three main courses…
We began with the pan-roasted red snapper with ragout of tomatoes & red peppers with basil potatoes & chargrilled courgettes.
Next, the ‘Ballotine of rabbit’ with buttered spinach & fondant potatoes. The petit pois, onion, spinach and the most delicious thyme jus completed the dish. Perfect texture and taste.
Then I wanted to try the plate of pork which included a pork, apple & potato pie, belly pork, farmer’s wife black pudding, kale, onions, apple compote & cider jus.
Most main dishes cost around £15.
Incidentally, don’t miss dessert:
The ‘Rocky Road Sundae’ with marshmallows, brandy snap, strawberry & chocolate sauce was great fun while the sticky toffee pudding with custard is a classic favourite.
Finally one of my favourite dishes of the entire meal was the cheese board – Barkham blue, Wigmore brie and Godminster organic cheddar served with quince jelly and exceptional crackers.
True deli food at its best….
