Restaurante La Pepica Valencia is one of the most authentic, traditional and enjoyable restaurants I’ve been lucky enough to dine at in Spain.
It’s not surprising that this restaurant feels as though it has such incredible heritage as this eatery was founded in 1898.
Each plate served celebrates a remarkable history which you can literally taste throughout the meal.
La Pepica is a traditional Spanish fish restaurant with incredible local, seasonal and fresh ingredience.
With fresh fish, great service and sea view – La Pepica has it all….
From the moment you walk through the door of La Pepica the magic begins. You are able to walk past the kitchen and see the fresh fish available and the food being prepared.

The dining room is huge by modern standards and offers a smart, clean and spacious environment. La Pepica has the grandeur of by-gone age.
To begin we were served the gorgeous alioli sauce, tomato tepanade and fresh bread.
Simple – Gorgeous – The Perfect Amuse Bouche.
Then the fun began with my favourite traditional appetiser of ‘queso manchego & jamon’ – (the best Spanish ham and cheese). I added a Valencian Salad to form my dream starter and ultimate freshness.
Again, the joy of La Pepica is the simplicity. Not complicated but the most gorgeous flavours, ingredients and presentation.
Next – you have to sample La Pepica paella!
They offer many types of paella including meat, fish, vegetarian and the Valencian Paella (chicken or rabbit) which we sampled.

Restaurante La Pepica is best known for it’s incredible fresh fish.
I chose the sample platter as I wanted to try everything! It was incredible!
Featuring cod, langoustine, shrimp and ‘catch of the day’ – this taster dish is a true Mediterranean delight!
I also had some chargrilled vegetables on the side….
Finally, do not miss dessert at La Pepica!
I sampled three puddings and loved them all for different reasons.
Firstly, the red wine pears were the most delicious dessert I’ve had in years! Go to La Pepica just for the pears – stunning!
I also sampled the Valencia oranges and chocolate cake which were both divine in their own way.
Totally decadent, indulgent and a fabulous finale to this wonderful meal. Worth EVERY single calorie.
Overall I loved Restaurante La Pepica in Valencia, Spain.
This is not a fancy eatery that is trying to be modern and sophisticated. La Pepica celebrates great food & ingredients, cooked simply with amazing flavours.
The service was also attentive, efficient and incredibly friendly. Considering a slight language barrier we got along great and received everything I ordered.
The sea views from La Papica’s windows made the meal even more special. On a hot summers night, to sit outside with the fish taster platter must be pure heaven!
Bravo La Pepica! You’re 100+ years history has certainly paid off.
I look forward to returning soon.
