Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Restaurant August Chef John Besh Review New Orleans 2015….
Restaurant August is currently rated as New Orleans best eatery. From my experience in NOLA – it was!
With true elegance, 2015 standards of service and divine food – you cannot go wrong at Restaurant August.
Chef John Besh is widely regarded as one of the biggest thing in gastronomy in 2015.
His classical training in Europe combines with his Southern Louisiana roots to create some hugely memorable dishes.
There’s no question that August is the best restaurant I’ve visited this trip to the USA and in fact for many years in the States…..

Firstly the room is incredibly refined and could easily compete with top restaurants in London, Paris or New York in terms of elegance. The same for the service.
August feels current and relevant. Not stuffy, pretentious and outdate like other ‘top rated’ restaurants in town.
The food looks, tastes and smells divine.
I visited Restaurant August on Jan 14th 2015 for my 35th birthday. It was a delight and didn’t disappoint.
To begin, chef offers a gorgeous ‘egg’ amuse bouche. Tremendously theatrical and set the mood for the meal.
I couldn’t resist the foie gras – done three ways. This was a clever, original and beautifully created dish.

Next came the goats cheese salad with pear. This was superb. The most creamy, flavoursome goats cheese I’ve ever tasted.
The various dining rooms at August have a ‘country house’ feel making for an intimate affair.
For the mains we tried the fish of the day, grilled Pampano with royal red shrimp, fennel, local citrus & saffron.
This dish was so perfect for New Orleans. Local. Season. Perfectly cooked.
I couldn’t resist the triple lamb. Unbelievably moreish, wonderfully well cooked and such a delight of a dish (pic 3).
Finally – don’t miss dessert at August.
Our server recommended the ‘house special’ which was the corn bread pudding with cider vinegar apples, caramel and buttermilk sherbet. Very rustic and hugely delicious.
Next came the lemon soufflé was a delight. Gorgeous pastry (nice twist) with the soufflé on top. Sensational lemon flavour.
But for me the chocolate mouse was divine and a personal favourite. Beautiful presentation and packed with flavour.
August is clearly is in a rare league of its own in New Orleans. Unlike so many who feel incredibly out-dated – this eatery couldn’t be more fresh, original and fun to visit.
