Merton releases his brand new autobiography ‘Only When I Laugh’ in September 2014.
Paul is a panellist on BBC1’s ‘Have I Got News For You’ & regularly appears on ‘Sorry I Haven’t A Clue’ & ‘Just A Minute’ on BBC Radio 4.
Merton still appears each week adlibbing at the Comedy Store in London with the ‘Comedy Players’. He loves silent comedy and has presented a new TV show and recently written a book about it.

Merton was born on 9 July 1957 in Parsons Green, London, to an English father, Albert Martin (a train guard on the London Underground) and an Irish Roman Catholic mother, Mary Ann Power.
He failed his eleven plus and went on to Wimbledon College, a Jesuit-run secondary school that had just become a comprehensive, where he received A-levels in English and History. After leaving school, Merton worked at the Tooting employment office for seven years.
