The biggest of them all is Michael Ball, who proved tonight that he’s still the King of the West End.
This man is a showman. This man has charisma. This man has adoring fans.
His voice is stronger than ever and his playlist was inspired. It’s a 5* tour in the presence of British icon & legend.
Michael Ball is still selling out venues up and down the country 30 years after he shot to fame in Les Mis in 1985.
He deserved every second of his standing ovation. It’s a testament to his pure talent.

What I love the most about Ball is that he doesn’t play it ‘safe’.
It would be so easy to sing ‘This is the moment’, ‘Dreamed a Dream’ & ‘Cabaret’ every concert – but he doesn’t!
He took genius risks adding modern classics from Katy Perry, Avicci, Pharrell Williams & Jason Miraz.
I’m sure many of his silver topped audience member hadn’t heard these before, but it didn’t matter.
He sang them like they were timeless classics and they were received with equal applause.
Michael’s voice is so resonant, rich, full, powerful & brilliantly controlled.
You sit in awe at his ability to begin ‘The Rose’ with such tenderness, beauty and subtlety – crescendoing into a heart melting showstopper.
Kudos to his band who were superb & to the sound guys who did him proud.
I’ve never heard a Live amplified concert sound better at the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall. Perfect venue so such an anthemic show.
The reason that Michael is still at the top of his game after so many of his generation has been forgotten, is because he’s effortless and faultless. That’s down to planning and rehearsal.
I’ve rarely seen anyone around the world look so relaxed, comfortable and at home on such an enormous, exposed and important stage.
Michael Ball is the master of his craft. Tonight he nailed it in front of 2800 people.
The genuine love and support from his fans was palpable throughout.
His show feels cool, fresh, modern but keeps his ‘loyals’ on side at the same time. That is a stroke of genius.
5*
