Mary Poppins The Musical Review

Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Mary Poppins The Musical Review….

Mary Poppins The musical is a beautiful show for all the family that took the West End & Broadway by storm.

Mary Poppins is a musical with music and lyrics by the Academy Award-winning Sherman Brothers and a book by Julian Fellowes.

The musical is based on the similarly titled series of children’s books by P. L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film, and is a fusion of various elements from the two. Some elements from the books that had been omitted from the film were restored, such as the walking statue and the ladders rising to the stars.

Others were removed, such as the scene in which Uncle Albert gets caught on the ceiling, laughing.

Here’s Mary – Ashley Brown in conversation on Broadway

On November 16, 2006, Mary Poppins opened on Broadway with Brown starring as the title character. Brown left the Broadway Company on October 5, 2008 after playing the role for two years and was replaced by Scarlett Strallen who previously played the role in the West End.

Most recently she’s appeared in Oklahoma, Hello Dolly! & Show Boat.

Here’s Gavin Lee who played Birt on Broadway and in the West End:

Gavin Lee is an English actor who starred as Bert on Broadway in the musical Mary Poppins.

He previously originated the role in the original West End production.

He was chosen for the Broadway role because of his critically acclaimed performance as Bert in the West End production. He departed the Broadway production after nearly two years to launch the US National Tour, but returned to the Broadway production in August 2010 until its closing in March 2013
