Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Maria Friedman Life Story Interview….
The Woman in White is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Zippel with a book by Charlotte Jones, based on the novel The Woman in White written by Wilkie Collins.
It ran for nineteen months in the West End and three months on Broadway, making it one of Lloyd Webber’s shortest-running shows.
The Star of the show is Maria Friedman, the Olivier Award winning actress who has done it all!
From Ragtime to Joseph, Passion and Chicago – she’s taken them all by storm. She also appeared on Broadway in Woman In White until having to leave due to a battle with cancer.
Here’s a rare in-depth interview recorded @ Woman in White at the Palace Theatre in the West End:
Friedman has won three Laurence Olivier Awards and been nominated for seven.
In 2010, Friedman appeared as a soloist in the BBC Proms tribute to Stephen Sondheim at the Royal Albert Hall, London. She sang the role of Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd opposite Bryn Terfel. In 2012 she directed a revival of Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along.
In October 2014, Friedman joined the cast of EastEnders as Elaine Peacock, the mother of established character Linda Carter (Kellie Bright). She has since appeared in December 2014 and March 2015 to date.
