Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar And Grill Review

It’s very rare you’re invited to a restaurant outside of London where you leave feeling like you’ve had a memorable, exciting, delicious and great value meal.

At ‘Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill’ @ Alea Casino Nottingham – that’s exactly how I felt!

The restaurant itself has a feel of a Las Vegas casino eatery. It’s connected to the Alea Casino in Nottingham and has tons of energy and a very cool atmosphere.

My initial concern was the noise and hustle and bustle from ‘behind the glass’ – thankfully it was not a problem and became an exciting unobtrusive back drop to a very special meal.

What is remarkable about this restaurant is that the menu is accessible, fun, varied and most importantly real value for money.

I’ve eaten in endless ‘gastro-pubs’ that charge £20+ for a main course and deliver very little. For £25 at MPW Nottingham you can get 2 or 3 courses of exceptional quality.

If you visit at lunchtime they have a £15 2-course special and an early bird menu Mon-Thurs for £25.

The Menu

To begin you can try one of my favourite starters EVER! The French Onion soup is sublime. It has fabulous rich flavour and in my opinion is the only choice to begin.

If you fancy something a little different, I can highly recommend the Beetroot and Goats Cheese Salad or the chicken terrine with panceta.

Quite exceptional all round….

I can wholeheartedly recommend four stand-out main courses.

If you want tradition, Marco offers hearty food and then takes it to a whole new level.

For example, you can sample his traditional Shepherd’s Pie with a twist. Utterly delicious minced meat & carrots topped with cheesy mash inside the filo pastry with fresh peas on the side. (The fish pie is served exactly the same and truly delicious).

Next, if you’re a fish lover, you’ll find the tuna a sensation. Surrounded by olives and capers, this is a beautifully presented, fresh, summery dish.

I love lamb & couldn’t resist the opportunity to try MPW’s ‘Roast  Rump of Lamb a La Dijonnaise, Pomme Dauphinoise’. Stunning presentation and delicious….

Special nods should go to the staff who are welcoming with perfectly balanced service. Warm, friendly but not annoying or overwhelming.

Finally, carnivores will obvious have a blast with one of Marco’s 28 day aged steaks.

For me if you don’t have a steak in a grill you are a moron. It should be the absolute best and Marco didn’t disappoint.

Gorgeous triple cooked chunky chips that even someone like me who believes carbs are the devil couldn’t possibly resist.

Simple. Delicious. Perfectly cooked.

Finally – DO NOT MISS DESSERT!

What can I say, Marco knows how to tickle the taste buds and his ‘Box Tree Eton Mess’ is second to none.

You can’t go wrong with the cheese plate and the Bitter Chocolate tarte with mint ice-ceram was absolutely mouth-watering and the perfect way to finish a hugely memorable meal….

As far as I am concerned, if you’re looking for an incredible dining experience in Nottingham, if you have silly money go to Sat Bains (it’s in a league of its own).

However, if you want top service, great food, a fun atmosphere and an exceptional dining experience for the price- Marco Pierre White Steakhouse at Alea Casino is one of the best in Nottingham.
