This review is simple – LES MIS UK TOUR 2018/2019 is the most beautiful, perfect and spell-bounding show in UK touring history.
It’s literally perfect.
This mega-hit musical brings the barricades to your local theatre, most of which are already selling out – in a new version conceived in 2009 as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. It’s the same show that wowed Broadway.
This show is simply sensational. An incredible & remarkable cast, flawless lighting, divine orchestra & sound and again – the most polished and perfect production in British history.
This production is more cinematic and immersive than any of its predecessors. It feels contemporary and has given this timeless musical a re-birth for a 2019 audience. It’s truly a work of art.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh said that the new version had “taken the world by storm – more than matching the success of the original, which can now only be seen in London,” adding that it had inspired the film version which starred Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway. He’s not wrong.
The touring production opened at Curve Leicester in November, where I was enthralled on opening night. It will travel around the country and, according to unconfirmed rumours, may replace the 30+ year old production in the West End.
The cast are quite exceptional.
Killian Donnelly is a superb signing as John Valjean. His energy is remarkable, his voice is impressive and his charisma is captivating throughout.
Interestingly Nic Greenshields offers the most captivating Javert in history. So commanding, utterly believable and a voice sent from the Bigman upstairs. A sensational world class performance.
Nods also to Sohpie-Louise Dann & Martin Ball who offer delicious dollops of light-relief as the Thenardier’s.
Kudos also to Katie Hall, Tegan Bannister & Bronwen Hanson who are all magic.
This is simply the strongest touring cast and ensemble in history. This tour could easily take bows on Broadway – I’ve never said that in 20+ years of reviewing touring theatre.
I cannot tell you how magical and inspiring this production is. Words fail me – rare.
DO NOT MISS the 2018/2019 UK touring production of Les Miz – it’s breathtakingly sensational.
