Jon Robyns Interview 2019 UK TOUR…

Jon Robyns is deservedly one of the biggest stars in musical theatre in 2019. He became a West End leading man after playing Rod in Avenue Q.

He’s since appeared in Sister Act, Spamalot & Les Misérables among others. He will return to Les Miz and perform the biggest and most challenging role in musical theatre history this Christmas.

In 2019 he released a new album ‘Musical Direction’, an ode to the best MD’s of his career. This led to a UK tour. We were thrilled to see Jon at Curve. Watch highlights via YouTube HERE:

Robyns currently stars in Hamilton in the West End – the WORLDS most popular musical.

Next he will become Jean Valjean at the Sondheim Theatre when the show returns to the old Queens Theatre (renovated) with an entirely new production & staging. Tonight we got a taster of how that will sound with Bring Him Home in full as the finale.

There’s no doubting that Jon is remarkably talented and sets the bar within his field. His effortless delivery makes songs including Grace Kelly, Hey Jude to Shallow seem easy. This man is gifted.

His range is breathtaking – his power & tone is quite stunning and simply beautiful at its most pure.

Jon’s higher range is astonishing, this show provided a masterclass in being a multi-talented leading man and showman.

As if Jon isn’t impressive enough as a singer, we also got to watch him play guitar and piano – two of the most magical moments of the concert. His talent and discipline is instantly obvious.

The show celebrates his career with hits from Memphis (kind of), Chitty but not Hamilton – ask the lawyers.

Jon is remarkably relaxed and at home on stage, this is not a show of pretence – you get Jon’s real opinions and profanity where necessary. Refreshing – I loved it.

Congratulations to Robyns’ pals who made the show an interactive production. Giles Terera, Emma Kingston, James Nelson, Jonathan Hermosa-Lopez all prove how vibrant musical theatre remains in 2019 ably assisted by pianist & MD Nathan Jarvis.

Jon continues until November in Hamilton before beginning Les Miz in December in the West End.

People should look and learn what the combination of talent, experience, dedication and discipline can deliver. 5*
