Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Hitsville USA Motown Singer Early Clover Life Story Interview…..
Early Clover has worked with everyone and currently Stars in ‘Forever Motor City’ at the Riviera Las Vegas!
At the age of 16 Early started my own band (Early Clover and The Bosa Novas) and his father hired a chaperon to take him to and from gigs. The band later became Middle Georgia Soul Drifters and were the opening act for some of the hottest names in the south, such as Betty Wright, Clarence Carter, Tyrone Davis, and Marvin Sease.
Clover became the road band and back up for William Bell, Rufus Thomas, and Joe Simon to name a few. I also collaborated with James Brown in writing techniques of songs.
The Middle Georgia Soul Drifters was awarded “The Best Band of The Year” by WMAZ Macon, Georgia in June of 1981.
Early then went to New York, where he performed at the Apollo and won 1st place twice, 2nd place three times, and 3rd place in the “Top Dog of The Year” competition, and tied 3rd place in the “Super Dog of The Year” competition.
Clover became an Apollo favorite, performing each Wednesday for pay, and later auditioned for the Coasters. Out of 62 people he was selected to sing lead for the group in 1988, for which I sang lead for 14 years, and shared the stage with some of the biggest name acts in the world.
