For many years people avoided Downtown Las Vegas as they believed there were more exciting and newer properties in the centre of Las Vegas Boulevard. Not any more.
Fremont Street has endless bars and entertainment and some of the most historic properties in Sin City.
Golden Gate was the first casino in Las Vegas and in fact even had the first telephone in the City!
Over the last year the entire casino has been totally renovated and now it can compete with the top properties on the strip!

You can feel the history from the second you step inside. After all, Frank, Deano & Sammy all drank at the Golden Gate bar!
The rooms have been brought up to 2013 standard are really exceptional. Modern, high end and beautifully decorated. Certainly as good as you will find anywhere in Las Vegas and almost certainly cheaper than any of the newer and much bigger properties in the centre of the strip.
Above is the renovated King bed room. Very cool.
Below is the Penthouse Suite which is simply divine. They even have an outdoor BBQ area:

I was very impressed by the renovations and thrilled that Golden Gate in Downtown Las Vegas can now compete with any of the main casinos in Las Vegas.
Built in 1907, this casino has bags of personality and charm. Checkout the lobby with the original guest book – fascinating!
Also at Golden Gate is Du-Par’s Restaurant which as almost as much tradition and history as the casino itself.
This diner is authentic and serves great American food.
I highly recommend their pancakes, french toast and legendary shrimp cocktail!
