Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Everglades Florida Airboat Rides Captain Jack’s Alligator Tours….
The Everglades are a natural region of tropical wetlands in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Florida, comprising the southern half of a large watershed.
The system begins near Orlando with the Kissimmee River, which discharges into the vast but shallow Lake Okeechobee. Water leaving the lake in the wet season forms a slow-moving river 60 miles wide and over 100 miles long, flowing southward across a limestone shelf to Florida Bay at the southern end of the state.
The Everglades are shaped by water and fire, experiencing frequent flooding in the wet season and drought in the dry season.
Captain Jack’s Airboat Tours offer several packages to make the most of the stunning Everglades.
Alex Belfield went to meet owner Glenn to find out more…
The Everglades are located on the West coast of Florida, 2 hours from Miami Beach.
For more than 60+ miles you are on a gorgeous straight road heading towards the peace, tranquillity of the sensational Everglades.
If you visit Miami without a trip to the Everglades – you are insane!
Once checked in at the ticket office you may even have the chance to ‘hug a baby alligator’ – the kids (young and old) love it!
Depending on the time of year you visit will determine what animals you see.
These trips are described as ‘airboat tours’ as you are not guaranteed to see wildlife.
In truth, these noisy airboats are more likely to scare nature away than tempt than encourage it to find you.
Passengers often get lucky and can see alligators, manatee’s and various birds.
We were incredibly lucky to see a small alligator on our trip who was basking on the embankment which was a thrill.
The joy of these trips is to enjoy nature at it’s most simple. Unchanged, unspoilt and beautiful.
The mangroves are remarkable and endless entertaining to ride through.
Despite it usually being 80 degrees in Florida, these trips can be chilly so some people may wish to wrap up warm.
Captain Jack’s offer several trips:
* Airboat Tour * Grasslands Combo Tour * Swamp Buggy Combo * Total Evergaldes Combo.
The airboat tour is one hour long. They are hugely professional and the captains are hugely enthusiastic, informative and helpful
Although the boats do not have disabled access, the team will do everything possible to get guests is mobility issues on-board.
