David Gower is one of the most famous and respected cricketers in history.

Gower is a former English cricketer who became the captain of the England cricket team during the 1980s.

Described as one of the most stylish left-handed batsmen of his era, Gower played 117 Test matches and 114 One Day Internationals (ODI) scoring 8,231 and 3170 runs, respectively. He was one of the most capped and high scoring players for England during his period.

A new study from Direct Line’s DrivePlus has revealed a fifth of UK parents (18%) admit driving is one of the key topics of argument as children aged between 17 and 25 grow up, fly the nest and have their first taste of independence.

Main concerns include; driving too fast (19%), playing loud music that distracts concentration (13%) or being distracted by someone irresponsible in the car (6%). We spoke to David about this…

Gower married his Anglo/Icelandic wife Thorunn Nash at Winchester Cathedral in 1992, with Chris Cowdrey as his best man.

They live in Hampshire and have two daughters, Alex and Sammi, born in 1994 and 1996 respectively.

Gower is now the main presenter of international cricket coverage for Sky Sports and regular commentator alongside retired cricketer David “Bumble” Lloyd and former England captains Mike Atherton, Nasser Hussain and Ian Botham. He also commentates on the matches – a role he has also played in Brian Lara International Cricket series – and has found success.
