Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Dakota Hotel & Grill Restaurant Review
Dakota have a very elegant and impressive restaurant that opens 7-10.30am for Breakfast, 12pm – 2.30pm for lunch and 6pm-10.30pm for dinner.
The room is incredibly well designed with an open brick wall at the back and cool black/brown design furniture.
This eatery offers an incredibly accessible menu at remarkably reasonable prices for this standard of hotel just moments from J27 of the M1.
Breakfast as the Dakota is an excellent affair.

In the modern and classy dining room located in the ‘Grill’, you get the choice of a buffet ‘continental style’ and hot choices from the menu.
There’s a buffet offers cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh pastries and toast. The hot menu offers a full English breakfast, salmon and scrambled eggs as well as porridge. All of the produce was exceptionally good quality and the kitchen promise ‘local produce’.
The salmon was delicious and the sausage and bacon was really wonderful.
So on to the full lunch and dinner menu….
To begin I sampled the ‘crispy fried squid’ which were presented beautifully on platters.
Next came the gorgeous prawn smoked salmon avocado salad with citrus dressing. One of the most fresh, flavoursome and colourful dishes I’ve been served in a long time.
My personal favourite was the ‘Pork Plate’ – with ham hock terrine, parma ham and scotch egg. This was a carnivore’s delight and packed with rustic flavour, and was certainly a wonderful value appetiser that could easily make a delcious ‘main’ for smaller eaters.
Each of these were £6.50 which is remarkable value for money…..
The main’s were really lovely at Dakota.
Unassuming, not over complicated but beautiful presented – high in flavour and brilliant combinations.
To begin I opted for the most popular item this lunchtime, the chicken. This ‘corn-fed’ breast came wrapped in pancetta and stuffed with mozzarella and served with fried polenta and pesto. Simple, moist and but hugely effective.
Next came the smoked haddock with bubble and squeak and a mustard grain sauce. Again, a classic that was cooked perfectly – so light and refreshing to the palate. The poached egg on top was perfectly soft in the middle. Bravo.
Finally, the highlight for me was the braised beef short ribs. I normally would avoid this dish like Ebola for fear of some dried up old piece of leather being thrown at me, however, it was spectacular! So tender, so moist, so flavoursome and the jus was a remarkable addition. 5*…..
Finally, the desserts were a delight.
Who can resist sticky toffee pudding?….
Or Chocolate tart?….
Or the Chocolate Sundae?
Overall Dakota is 4+* hotel with exceptionally friendly service, wonderfully quiet modern rooms and a great restaurant.
