Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Beautiful Thing UK Tour Review 2015……
Nikolai Foster’s celebrated anniversary production of Jonathan Harvey’s modern classic Beautiful Thing returns in 2015 to make audiences laugh and cry in equal measure in this beautifully crafted story of innocence & love in the very ‘real world’.
Beautiful Thing is a glorious & spine-tingling story between two young men set on an inner city housing estate. Together the boys find companionship, comedy, warmth & ultimately love.
This play is perfectly illustrated by the poignant, moving and sensational music of Mama Cass.
Sandra is the matriarch and is played by the glorious Charlie Brooks, most famous for her role as Janine Butch in BBC1’s Eastenders. She steals the show with her killer putdowns, brutal honesty and brassy asides.
This beautifully staged 4* story of love, fight and struggle to ‘be yourself’ leaves you moved, intrigued, uplifted and most importantly entertained through their discovery. Get tickets here!
Enjoy an exclusive interview with Charlie and Alex Belfield at the premier in London:
Jonathan Harvey (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme; Coronation Street) combines comedy with drama in his critically acclaimed award-winning play.
Beautiful Thing truly captures what it is to be a teenager and to fall in love.
Multi-award winning actress Charlie Brooks, best known for her role as ‘Janine Butcher’ in EastEnders, will lead the cast as ‘Sandra’.
Thomas Law (EastEnders, The World’s End) will star as ‘Ste’ and Sam Jackson (Skins, Kes) will star as ‘Jamie’.
Gerard McCarthy (Hollyoaks, The Fall) will star as ‘Tony’, Vanessa Babirye (Our Girl) will star as ‘Leah’ with Rob Ellis & Natalie Law completing the cast.
Produced by Nottingham Playhouse, Curve Theatre Leicester and Tom O’Connell for QNQ in association with Oliver Taheri Productions.
Colour and comic-relief comes courtesy of the loud-mouthed next door neighbour, Leah, along with Jamie’s mum, Sandra (the local barmaid) and her neo-hippy boyfriend, Tony.
Don’t miss this perfectly balanced real life story of love packed with huge laughs, uncomfortable raw tension via a hugely impressive, very clever, brilliantly lit and perfectly directed and staged play.
