James Cracknell Interview 2019

Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s James Cracknell Interview 2019…

With 2 Olympic Gold Medals, 6 World Championship titles James Cracknell OBE is an inspiring sportsman, athlete and adventurer.

Developing a love of exploring and visiting new places from an early age, James originally began his working life as a Geography teacher.

During this role he was able to share his passion for the world and encourage children to broaden their horizons through exploring and learning about people and places.

Every year millions of Britons flee the British Isles in search of exotic and far-flung destinations. Yet despite this wanderlust, adults lack geographical knowledge and are less likely to know the capital of Canada than the average school kid.

A new study from Expedia – quizzing Britons on their geography knowledge – finds nine in 10 (92%) adults fare worse in a Key Stage 3 test set for 10 to 13-year olds than the pre-teens themselves. The research shows that many Brits don’t recognise Japan (52%) or India (50%) on a map, even though the latter is 13 times bigger than the UK

Fast-forward to 2010, James took on America – racing to cycle, run, row and swim from LA to New York in record time. It was during this trip that James suffered a near fatal accident after being struck from behind by a truck while cycling through Arizona.

After a difficult six-month recovery period, James went to the Canadian Yukon, completing The Coldest Race on Earth. James has also successfully completed the gruelling Amundsen Omega3 South Pole Race with friend Ben Fogle.

Clearly not one to sit still, his favourites places to visit are those that include plenty of activities (swimming, fishing, kayaking to name but a few). A particular family highlight was staying in a log cabin in the Taboo Muskoka Resort, near Ontario, Canada. Next on his family bucket-list is taking his children to Machu Picchu.
