Following 8 record-breaking years in London’s West End, the National Theatre’s acclaimed play WAR HORSE is now touring the UK.
This heart breaking play (with music) is a spell-bounding, immersive, epic and remarkable three hours of theatre.
This show is basically The Lion King for grown ups. It has huge heart, love, joy, death, devastation but glorious hope and optimism throughout. It’s meaningful and timeless.

At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France.
Thomas Dennis steals the show as the utterly charming and a compelling Albert. You 100% believe that Joey is his best friend, understands him and that he would do anything for him.
The bond that Thomas portrays in this piece is timeless and universal. It resonates on so many levels and beautifully connects with every single person in the audience from 8 to 80.
Enjoy the standing ovation & curtain call from Nottingham Royal Concert Hall:
The beauty of this show is the puppetry of the horses. From the wag of a tail to the turn of an ear – it’s sensationally ‘real’ and you suspend disbelief from the second the curtain rises.
You also quickly forget there are 3 hugely talented actors, including Tom Quinn, operating these stunning puppets from within each horse. The talent, discipline, dedication and stamina of these puppeteers is quite astounding.
This show is incredibly clever, as is the goose who also steals the show with big laughs whilst not saying a word.
Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.
Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness.
At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.
War Horse is an unforgettable theatrical event which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France.
You’ll laugh, cry and leave moved by this beautiful story of a boy and his best friend.
A rare 5* meaningful delight.
