Diddy David is a British radio presenter, icon and broadcasting legend.

Still on the air at 78, he’s been broadcasting for over 60 years!

He began his career in 1959 and has since hosted over 12,000 radio shows and more than 1,000 TV shows.

He is usually known as ‘Diddy David Hamilton’ which was a name given to him by British comic genius Ken Dodd in the 60’s.

David has broadcast on BFBS, Melody FM, Capital Gold, Classic Gold, Primetime and many others. In 1975 his show was simulcast on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2.

David has just releases his new book ‘THE GOLDEN DAYS OF RADIO 1’ via Amazon below.

During an unedifying week for the BBC, David tells us how much he earned at Top Of The Pops and how much he currently doesn’t earn at BBC Local Radio….

Hamilton was born in Manchester in 1938. He adopted his mother’s maiden name as a show business name.

On stage Hamilton has compered shows by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, David Cassidy and many other pop acts. He has hosted shows at venues like the Royal Albert Hall and the London Palladium, and headlined in four major pantomimes.

In 2016 he embarked on a 40-theatre tour, David Hamilton`s Rock `n` Roll Back The Years, with band, The Fugitives, and singers.

He attended Glastonbury Road Grammar School at St. Helier in Surrey, until aged 17.
