Dr. Robert (Bruce Robert Howard) is the iconic singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with The Blow Monkeys,
He releases his brand new album ‘Out There’ on 2nd May via Fencat Records.
Recorded at home on his ancient 8 track Tascam tape machine, the album is a home-cooked, heartfelt, authentic and unique affair.
The Blow Monkey’s were formed in 1981. Their biggest hit song was “Digging Your Scene”, which hit No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August, 1986. They had four albums and eleven singles in the UK charts from 1986 and 1990.
‘It doesn’t have to be that way’ is still a huge radio hit in 2016. The Blow Monkey’s current album is ‘If Not Now, When?’.
Home for Dr. Robert is the house he and his wife Michele built a few years ago in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in deepest Andalucia, Southern Spain.
With ‘Out There’, Robert explores the deep seam of acoustic song writing that has characterized much of his previous solo work, from the acoustic stylings of early Marc Bolan to the jazzy diversions of Tim Buckley.

Robert enlisted help from some fellow travellers along the way.
Richard “Snakehips” Dudanski, one-time drummer in Joe Strummers pre-Clash combo the 101’ers as well as Metal Box era PIL, lends his drumming skills to the hypnotic ‘Lost in Rasa’, one of the albums standout tracks.
The album also features the exquisite piano and accordion playing of young Jos Hawken, a native Shetland Islander who now resides up in the mountains near Robert.
It also features local busking “Professor” of saxophone, Joe Degado, also joins the party on the Brel-like, ‘A Bottomless Pit’ along with ‘Lost in Rasa’.
