Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s Review Bodyguard Musical Tour Starring Alexandra Burke….
I first saw Bodyguard The Musical at the beginning of the tour over a year ago.
Back then it was a masterclass in Live entertainment. Tonight I revisit at Leicester De Montfort Hall and it’s still just as compelling, moving and breath-taking!
Firstly, let’s be clear – Alexandra Burke gives a world class, exhilarating, standing ovation inducing, 5* killer performance. She’s the epitome of a Broadway standard Star!
Based on the 1992 Oscar nominated film The Bodyguard, this musical opened in the West End at the Adelphi Theatre in 2012 and continues to tour through June 18th 2016.
With all of Witney’s mega-hits ‘I will always love you’, ‘One moment in town’ & ‘I wanna dance with somebody’ – this show crescendo’s naturally into a standing ovation party.

Bodyguard continues at Leicester De Montfort Hall until March 26th.
Enjoy an Exclusive interview with the sensational Alexandra Burke:
The Bodyguard tells the story of former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.
The film famously starred the stunning Whitney Houston – almost an impossible act to follow.
This is basically a love story and romantic thriller of epic proportions. Some of the story has been re-written for the stage from the video version.
Alexandra Burke steals the show with her sensational vocals from the opening (mop requiring) gunshot! S
Burke shot to fame after winning the fifth series of The XFactor in 2008.
She is the epitome of a triple threat – she can sing, dance and act in equal measure

Alexandra’s gospel tones works perfectly with this hugely powerful and moving play with enormous ballads throughout.
Her version was ‘Run To You’ was truly beautiful the most moving I’ve ever heard. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house during ‘I have nothing’. She’s so blessed with talent.
Even an old cynic like me couldn’t avoid the genuine emotion in her stunning performance in several places throughout the piece.
There’s only a handful of Stars who could own, cope with and deliver this musical so magnificently.
She’s also delicious to look, incredibly fit to own this hugely physical role. She has never looked more at ease in the role.
I truly haven’t seen such moves since Britney in Vegas, heard a voice as consistently strong, powerful and compelling since Celine at the Collessium. Alex is magnificent from start to end.
The Bodyguard Musicals features a host of irresistible classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, Saving All My Love, I’m Your Baby Tonight, Run to You, I Have Nothing & I Wanna Dance with Somebody.
Kudos must also go to Rachel Johns who owns the role of Nicki. So unbelievably talented it’s breath-taking. The voice of an angel! She has the perfect tenderness matched with uncontrollable jealousy.
Occasionally the show feels a little padded and lacklustre and somewhat visually dull outside of the big dance numbers, however touring shows are more restricted with set than those in London.
Having said that, all of Alex’s best moments are perfectly staged, lit and designed. Let’s face it, we just want the hits!
The lighting in places is brilliant, the sound is superb and the dancers give more than 100%.
I give The Bodyguard 4* but Alexandra & 5*+
Don’t miss The Bodyguard Musical on tour through June 2016.
