Enjoy Celebrity Radio’s End Of The Rainbow Review Judy Garland Musical Tour….
It’s 1968 and Judy Garland, a once-glittering star, is in London to make her explosive comeback. But off stage, holed up in her unsatisfactory hotel room, Judy is battling her demons and addictions.
End of the Rainbow is tragic, touching and a sad portrayal of a troubled Star, icon and legend.
This three hander is a play with music & features Garland’s most memorable songs The Man That Got Away, Come Rain Or Come Shine, The Trolley Song and of course Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Starring Lisa Maxwell, who owns the role of Judy – her tone and torment is superb. Lisa is every inch a leading lady and her demeanour, delivery & timing is uncanny.
At times this show is a little repetitive, especially in the first half, and you should be aware that this production has extreme language throughout. Not to everyone’s taste at my sold out matinee.
You leave the show wondering how someone so incredibly blessed and talented could end up so flawed.
Here’s Star Lisa Maxwelland Alex Belfield in conversation:
Lisa made her stage debut at the tender age of fourteen in the original London cast of Annie and was the voice of Kira in Jim Henson film “The Dark Crystal.” Since then she has enjoyed a long and varied career.
End Of The Rainbow also Stars Gary Wilmot & Sam Attwater.
In 2003 Lisa became the subject of ITV1’s “This Is Your Life.”
Between 2008 -2014 Lisa appeared as a regular panelist on ITV1’s Loose Women
Her most recent theatre appearance was as Lina in Mike Batistick’s play “Chicken”, alongside Craig Kelly at the Trafalgar Studios.
Lisa is “thrilled” be playing Judy Garland and working with Paul Taylor Mills and Mercury Theatre Colchester on their production of Peter Quilters award wining play “End of The Rainbow.”
