Here’s Bill and Alex Belfield in conversation in….

William Thomas Medley is a native Californian. Born September 19, 1940 in Los Angeles, he grew up and went to school in nearby Santa Ana.

He sang in Presbyterian choirs and high school glee clubs and entered amateur contests.

Bills influence came from his father who led a band and played sax and his mother played piano and sang.

His lack of formal musical education didn’t stop Bill from becoming the Righteous Brothers first songwriter writing songs (including their first hit “Little Latin Lupe Lu”) and becoming their record producer.

Bill’s early influences include Roy Hamilton, Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, And Bobby Bland. Bill had his own group “The Paramours” in 1961 when he was introduced to Bobby Hatfield who had his own group “The Variations”.

After singing together one night they decided to combine groups and form what would become “The Righteous Brothers” As well as having a career with The Righteous Brothers Bill Medley has had a successful career as a solo artist recording 14 albulms including Grammy award winning “Dirty Dancing” Bill now resides in Newport Beach, California with his wife and daughter.
