In June 2015 Virgin Atlantic launched its own daily service from London Heathrow to Detroit Metro Airport DTW.

Using the A330, this takes 8 hours going out and just under 7 coming back.

With 3 cabins including 36 Upper Class seats – this is one of the most modern planes in the world.

LHR to DTW – 10.10am / 1.15pm

DTW to LHR – 5.5opm / 6.25am (next day)

This is one of the most enjoyable flights I’ve taken.

This plane is incredibly modern offering the very latest in technology.

Of course you get all of the Virgin Atlantic perks including the lounge, on-board service, sleep suits and Revivals Lounge access on landing at LHR.

There’s lots of little touches like high ear phones for the TV, top line liquor on the flight and in our view the best service in the price range.

We should make it clear that Upper Class by Virgin is not ‘First Class’ – it’s much better than business class but does not try to compete with First Class of the likes of Emirates.

When flying out of DTW Detroit Metro Airport you have access to the Delta Sky Club.

What this place lacks in chic it makes up for in size!

It is true to say it doesn’t have the ‘sexy’ of the Club House but it offers an oasis from the terminal and nice food and complimentary drinks.

With soup, salad and snacks you won’t go hungry.

You can help yourself to alcohol, tea coffee & soft drinks….

Upper Class seats have power for lap tops and USB power for your IPhone.

Best still there is Wifi on the entire aircraft for just £14.99.

On-board Virgin Atlantic you’ll get the usual 3 course meal which is available on a first come first served basis.

The standard is usually very good and the staff are incredibly helpful and go above and beyond to cater to your needs with regards to sleep and timing.
