The band was superb - a 12 piece brass section!

Ball was overblown and I think he plays Javert clumsily by now, as if he has forgotten how to sing it, not what to sing.

Lucas was characterful and player it well, in spite of the audience treating him like a superstar!

Owen-Jones was very good - it's his part. His singing is not always easy to listen to.

The ladies were well voiced and lovely, though on the stage can you really hit the desperation and depravity of the dockside?

Chorus? Intense, and what holds the principal roles together. With them in full voice and the band off the leash, the effect was amazing.

Staging and lighting was West End standard - no expense spared. And the staging and direction, of the barricades for instance, was provocative and well done.

I was thrilled with it. For £30 the only real restriction to view was the top staging where the band sat. Wonderful experience.

Tickets are now £210+, and for that I would expect a lot more.

Finally, at £7 for a large glass of dry white, I was impressed by the value of the catering and merch!

I haven’t yet seen the concert, going next month, but I have to taken exception at Javert being labelled as a baddy! He is not the baddy, yes he is Valjean’s nemesis, but that doesn’t make him a villain, he is doing what he believes to be right. If you want a baddy that is clearly Thenardier.
